As someone who works in a more creative industry I have always found it really important to create a work space that I really love. But with summer in full force I still find myself dreaming of beaches, grass fields and shady trees.
Thankfully the great people and TELUS also know what it is like, by 2015 70% of the TELUS team will either work outside the office – or only in the office part…

Yesterday my son and I were treated to a day at the Vancouver Aquarium so we could check out their newest expansion! We were beside ourselves with excitement and youngest was literally vibrating. At one point he was literally jumping along rather than walking and I asked:
“What on earth are you doing??”
“I’m sorry, I’m just really excited!!” he responds. Clearly a character and more than ready to get inside and explore.
As soon as we got close I was hit with lots of nostalgia, it was a wonderful revamp that still manages to remind you of how it used to be when I was a kiddo. Youngest was totally in love with the fountain wall and of course the traditional Bill Reid that was always there. It was as if it always looked like that and lots of people were there to enjoy it along with us.
It was so amazing to see all the support that the Vancouver Aquarium has been getting, I think it is so important in order to highlight just how much great work they do and to see how many others totally agree with that sentiment. Everyone is all smiles and learning so much about the amazing animals that they love so much and they have such a large lovely staff and volunteer base you can really see their passion. They’re research is so important and has done so much good for the animals that otherwise wouldn’t have a lick of help.
Anyways, I am not here to get up on a soap box. I want to share with you all the amazingness that was our day at the Vancouver Aquarium and of course some of my most favorite of photographs from the day. With so much to see it was certainly hard to choose where to go first and all the changes were so awesome! Of course since it is so far too hard for me to choose I totally left it up to youngest to lead the way. So I want to bring you the Aquarium through the eyes of this cute little dude.
He was enthralled with everything he came across, and of course – from time to time, he was a little scared. But as I always tell my boys, fear is not something that should control you, it should be something that drives you. Some of the most amazing experiences start out of fear, great discoveries, marriages etc… etc… Youngest totally embraced it and was filled with massive fearless curiosity in no time.
He was such a great kid the whole day there too, I was incredibly impressed with how well behaved he was and how patient. He waited his turn too look at things, he waited so well in line for the 4D movie and he was so kind when he didn’t freak out at a little boy who pushed him. Totally impressed, a full day of fun and wonderful new things to discover clearly equals an impressive young man for me!! The staff all over the place guiding him and encouraging him to check stuff out was so helpful as well; especially at times when he was a little apprehensive.
We had such a great day together at the Aquarium it was such a magical day for us, thank you again for letting us come check out all your amazing changes and letting me share it with my youngest!
